A few hours ago Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga of Kampala Archdioceses has officially opened St. Elizabeth  Catholic Church of Namasuba to a level of Parish. Africa’s future President Kivumbi Earnest Benjamin is attending the function on the status of a VIP most especially that HICGI News Agency is Broadcasting from Namasuba Hill off Entebbe High Way

Thousands of Christians from different catholic churches in Wakiso an Kampala are attending the function that is widely covered by Uganda’s Media.

Kivumbi will latter host guests for his wedding meetings in the evening at his residence in Namasuba. Today Pearl Fm radio has talked by Kivumbi wedding being anticipated by Kampalans

Insiders have interpreted Kivumbi association with religions as politically motivated whereas he is a Born Again Christian.

Who is Cyprian Kizito Lwanga?

His Grace Cyprian Kizito Lwanga was born 19 January 1953 at Kyabakadde, Mukono District, in Naggalama parish of the Diocese of Lugazi, in Uganda. He is the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kampala, since 30 September 2006.

Priesthood

He was ordained a priest on 8th April 1978 at Lubaga Cathedral by His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Nsubuga. Appointed first Bishop of Diocese of Kasana-Luweero on 16 November 1996 and ordained Bishop on 1 March 1997 at Kasana-Luweero. Appointed the third Archbishop of Kampala on 19 August 2006 and installed as the third Archbishop of Kampala on 30 September 2006 at Lubaga Cathedral, succeeding His Eminence Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala, who retired.

Critics

The archbishop Lwanga’s strong tongue has sometimes caught critics off guard. He has challenged the government on various issues such as Human Rights, Good governance, environment,  corruption and has opposed prostitution, homosexuality, child sacrifice, alcoholism, immorality, witchcraft and adultery.

Cyprian is a die hard of Kabaka and Buganda and he frequently meets the Kabaka and exchange ideas.
