This follows in the wake of anti-government protests called on by opposition leader Raila Odinga over the high cost of living and the pending implementation of the new Finance Bill by President William Ruto’s administration. The bill which has been put on hold by the Kenyan High Court, would result in Kenyans paying higher taxes, and the price of food is also expected to rise, once implemented.

The Wednesday protest was declared “unlawful” by authorities.
