HALIFAX, CANADA-  Phionah Barungi the Senior Presidential Assistant on Special Duties on Wednesday while attending the fight against malaria in Canada Halifax, where African countries like Uganda were given a platform to express the challenges they have encountered in the fight against malaria said in recent years, progress in reducing malaria has grounded to a standstill.

“Not only does malaria continue to directly endanger health and cost lives, but it also perpetuates a vicious cycle of inequity. People living in the most vulnerable situations including pregnant women, infants, children under 5 years of age, refugees, migrants, internally displaced people, and Indigenous Peoples continue to be disproportionately impacted.” Phionah Barungi says and adds that the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the government of Uganda are trying their best to bring a stop to the rampant spread of malaria however the numbers are still overwhelming.

This convention was attended by the Mayor, His worship Mike Savage, Hon. Barbara Adams, Hon Suzy Hansen and Hon Andy Fillmore of Halifax, and many other African dignitaries.
