Uganda Communications Commission- UCC on Tuesday held an Annual Media Convention at Makerere University one of Africa’s most influential and oldest university.

Several Media Houses including HICGI News Agency were invited.

Hon. Nyombi Thembo, UCC Executive Director a Keynote Speaker discussed how the rise of social media and digital platforms have revolutionized news & information generation and how they have accelerated the spread of news and diminished the dominance of traditional media.

Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, Hon Chris Baryomunsi, minister of information communications technology and National Guidance , Don Wanyama CEO Vision Group, Susan Nsibirwa CEO Nation Media, Kin Kariisa, CEO Next Media and others are some of the media figures who discussed strategies on harnessing Artificial Intelligence and Social Networks to combat Misinformation in Uganda.
