EU reports Iran has credibly supplied ballistic missiles to Russia.

The European Union is investigating “credible” reports from allies suggesting that Iran has provided Russia with ballistic missiles for use in Ukraine.

Tehran has denied these allegations, while the US State Department has warned that such an action would represent a “dramatic escalation” with “significant consequences.”

On Monday, EU spokesman Peter Stano confirmed that allies had shared credible intelligence indicating that Iran had supplied ballistic missiles to Russia.

The EU is now examining these reports with its member states. If verified, this would mark a significant increase in Iran’s support for Russia’s war against Ukraine. The EU is prepared to respond with new and substantial sanctions against Iran in coordination with international partners.

Iran’s foreign ministry has strongly rejected the accusations, with spokesman Nasser Kanani dismissing them as false. The EU has previously imposed sanctions on Iran for supplying drones to Russia.

The Kremlin has not explicitly denied the claim but has been cautious in its response. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged seeing the report but suggested that such information is not always accurate. He emphasized that Iran remains an important partner for Russia, with ongoing trade, economic, and cooperative relations.

The EU’s investigation into these reports underscores the growing tensions surrounding the conflict in Ukraine and international efforts to address the arms supply chain.

As the situation evolves, the EU and its allies are likely to intensify their scrutiny and response measures to prevent further escalation and to uphold the international sanctions regime against Iran.
