The haul primarily included antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) and antimalarial medications, which had been pilfered from government supplies. Preliminary investigations indicate that these stolen drugs are finding their way into neighboring countries, particularly the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The operation yielded notable results beyond the recovery of stolen drugs. It led to the closure of 29 drug shops operating either illegally or with unqualified staff. Additionally, authorities confiscated 153 boxes of drugs, valued at Shs50 million. These actions highlight the NDA’s ongoing commitment to curbing illegal drug activities and ensuring that government-supplied medications are properly distributed and utilized.

The recovery and subsequent actions underscore the NDA’s vigilance and its role in safeguarding public health amidst growing challenges in drug security and trade.
