Hoima High Court has issued an order for the airlifting of Bunyoro King Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I for specialized medical treatment.
The ruling comes in response to an application that was originally filed ten years ago by Prince Apollo Kisoro, the former Bunyoro tourism minister and assistant to the monarch.

The court, presided over by Judge Jesse Byaruhanga, recognized the urgency of the situation and directed that the king be taken to India or another hospital with state-of-the-art facilities. This decision underscores the importance of timely medical intervention, given the king’s health condition.
The application was presented by lawyers Jotham Mugarura and Elias Tumwebaze, who advocated for the king’s needs based on the prolonged delay and the critical nature of his health issues.
King Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, who recently performed rituals during the new moon cultural festival at Karuzika Palace in Hoima City, has been a significant cultural figure in the region. The court’s order aims to ensure that he receives the necessary care to maintain his health and continue his royal duties.
This development has reignited discussions about the healthcare provisions available for traditional leaders and the importance of accessing advanced medical care. The community awaits further updates on the king’s condition and the planned airlift for treatment.
