Kabaka’s Chief and Two Others Injured in Machete Attack in Kassanda, Mityana.

Mityana, Uganda — Fear gripped residents of Myanzi Sub-county in Kassanda District and Mityana Municipality after a violent attack on Saturday night left three people injured and deeply traumatized.

Among the victims was Erick Ssonko, Kabaka’s deputy chief in the area, who was targeted alongside two others by machete-wielding thugs.

The incident occurred when a group of seven attackers, estimated to be between 19 and 22 years old, arrived on three boda bodas. Armed with machetes, they raided Ssonko’s home, where his family operates Dreams Primary School. The assailants stole school fees recently collected from parents before fleeing the scene.

Two other individuals, Mr. Gabriel Kakooza and his wife, Ms. Tereeza Kyagera, also sustained injuries during the attack. The couple was rushed to Mityana General Hospital for treatment, where they are currently recovering.

The brazen attack has left residents shaken, with many expressing fear and concern about rising insecurity in the region. Local authorities are investigating the incident as efforts to restore calm and track down the perpetrators continue.

This violent raid highlights the growing challenges of crime and insecurity in the area, prompting calls for increased vigilance and enhanced security measures to protect residents and local institutions.
