The Commercial Division Court has sentenced Isaac Musumba, the former State Minister for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, to six months in Luzira Prison.
The ruling, delivered by Justice Patience Tumusiime Rubagumya, comes after Mr. Musumba failed to clear a debt of Shs160 million, despite previous commitments.

During a court appearance on Wednesday, Mr. Musumba offered Shs10 million in cash as a partial payment of the debt. He also requested an additional 21 days to settle the remaining balance. However, the court found this insufficient, particularly in light of a promise Mr. Musumba made in 2023 to fully resolve the matter.
The court’s decision emphasizes the importance of honoring financial obligations, especially after legal commitments are made. Mr. Musumba will now serve six months in prison for his failure to comply with the agreed terms.
