Priest Further Remanded Over Taxman’s Murder After Prosecution No-Show.

Rev. Fr. Dominic Alinga is led by prison warders during his appearance at the Entebbe Chief Magistrates’ Court .

In a continued court case, Reverend Father Dominic Alinga, accused of the murder of a Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) employee, was further remanded following the failure of the prosecution to appear in court.

On August 9, 2024, prison warders escorted Fr. Alinga to the Entebbe Chief Magistrates’ Court, where he was scheduled to hear an update on the case.

Fr. Alinga faces allegations of killing John Bosco Ngorok, a URA employee. Additionally, he is charged with the attempted murder of a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) operator. This recent hearing, however, saw no progress, as the state prosecutor, who was supposed to present the status of the investigation, was absent.

The absence of the prosecutor led the Chief Magistrate to remand Fr. Alinga once again, delaying the proceedings. This postponement adds another layer of complexity to the case, as the court awaits essential updates from the government regarding the investigation’s progress.

Fr. Alinga’s next court appearance will depend on the availability of the prosecution and the completion of investigative procedures. The case has garnered significant public interest, with many anticipating a thorough examination of the accusations against the priest.
