Russia has issued a stark warning, vowing to take “appropriate” action if Ukraine employs US-supplied long-range missiles to strike Russian territory.
The Kremlin’s threat follows a statement by US officials confirming that President Joe Biden has approved the use of these advanced weapons by Ukraine, a move that could escalate the ongoing conflict in the region.

The missiles in question are part of a new weapons package designed to bolster Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression. According to reports, the US has greenlit the use of these missiles for Ukraine to target Russian-controlled areas, specifically the small section of territory in Kursk, which Ukraine has managed to occupy. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has responded to the news, stating that “the missiles will speak for themselves,” emphasizing Ukraine’s intent to defend its sovereignty and regain occupied land.
President Biden reaffirmed US support for Ukraine during his participation at the G20 summit in Brazil, declaring strong backing for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This support is seen as part of an ongoing effort by the US and its allies to provide Ukraine with the resources necessary to counter Russia’s military advancements.
However, Russia has warned that Ukraine’s use of US long-range missiles would represent a dangerous escalation of the conflict. The Kremlin also raised concerns over the involvement of North Korean troops in the conflict, particularly after reports suggested that Russian authorities had allowed them to fight in the region, potentially complicating the situation further.
In related developments, at least 10 people were killed when a Russian missile, which had been shot down, fell on residential buildings in Odesa. This tragedy occurred after a weekend marked by widespread Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, highlighting the continuing intensity of the conflict and the mounting civilian toll.
As the war enters its second year, the stakes continue to rise, with both sides gearing up for further military confrontations. The international community remains closely divided over how best to support Ukraine while avoiding further escalation with Russia.
