UCC Invites HICGI News Agency at the Anual Broadcasters Conference.

KAMPALA- Uganda Communications Commission -UCC has today held an Annual Broadcasters Conference at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.
This conference has attracted Ministers, Resident District Commissioners, Uganda People’s Defense Forces- UPDF, Uganda Police, Media owners, Journalists, Electro Commission and other Government agencies.

Uganda’s Minister of ICT, Honourable Joyce Nnabbosa Ssebugwawo in her address to the delegates demanded accountability and transparency from the general public in the fight against corruption. “If you go to the market, and the seller of food gives you less than what you’ve paid, that is also corruption.”
Nnabbosa added that the evidence of high cancer cases is as a result corrupt people who mix dangerous substances in the food they put on market, she said this must stop.
She also emphasised that government officials must utilise the free air space allocated to them on every broadcasting station to share government projects without mixing politics.

The Inspector General of Government- IGG, Honourable Betty Kamya also called for collective measures to fight corruption.
During a panel discussion an official from UCC said they will continue to crack down on influencers, journalists and social media users who violate UCC Regulations.
A film maker from the audience also demanded allocation of more funds to support local content creators:
UCC also further cautioned journalists to exercise professional ethics while reporting on the upcoming elections.
