Sitting tenants have raised objections over the Shs11 billion compensation awarded to Ms Patricia Alina, the widow of the late Gen Aronda Nyakairima, for a disputed piece of land. The compensation follows investigations that reportedly affirmed Ms Nyakairima’s ownership of the contested property.

Mr Innocent Okong, a lawyer representing Ms Nyakairima, revealed that the matter underwent scrutiny by various government bodies, including the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations. The findings, he said, confirmed that the land in question rightfully belongs to Ms Nyakairima.
The tenants, however, remain dissatisfied with the resolution, voicing their opposition to the hefty compensation figure. They argue that their occupancy and potential rights to the land were not adequately considered during the investigations.
The late Gen Aronda Nyakairima, a former army commander and Internal Affairs Minister, was a prominent figure in Uganda’s leadership. His widow, Ms Nyakairima, now finds herself at the center of controversy as disputes over the ownership and compensation for the property persist.
The matter continues to stir debate among affected parties and stakeholders as they seek further clarity on the legal and financial decisions surrounding the land dispute.
