Former US President Bill Clinton has been discharged from MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, after receiving treatment for the flu, his spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday.

In a statement, Angel Ureña, Clinton’s spokesperson, expressed gratitude for the medical care provided by the hospital staff. “He and his family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he received,” Ureña shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Clinton, 78, was admitted to the Georgetown University Medical Center on Monday evening after developing a fever. He underwent tests and was kept under observation as a precautionary measure.

This is not the first time the former president has faced a health challenge in recent years. In 2021, Clinton was hospitalized for six days in California after developing a blood infection.

The recent flu episode serves as a reminder of the health risks for individuals in Clinton’s age group, particularly during flu season. However, he is reportedly recovering well and is now resting at home.

Clinton, who served as the 42nd president of the United States from 1993 to 2001, has had a history of health issues, including heart surgeries and infections in the past.
