National Unity Platform (NUP) party president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has declared his readiness to form or join a coalition aimed at ending President Yoweri Museveni’s decades-long rule. Bobi Wine made this announcement during his end-of-year address on December 30, 2024, held at his residence in Magere, Wakiso District.
In his remarks, the opposition leader emphasized the need for unity among political players and likeminded individuals to challenge what he termed as the “Museveni dictatorship.” He noted that a coalition of willing forces would be crucial in pushing for democratic reforms and ensuring a fair electoral process in the upcoming 2026 elections.

“We are ready to work with anyone who shares the vision of liberating Uganda from tyranny and advancing democracy,” Bobi Wine stated, adding that collaboration among opposition groups would strengthen their ability to counter the ruling regime’s grip on power.
The press conference also provided an opportunity for Bobi Wine to reflect on the current political climate in Uganda. He criticized the government for stifling dissent and perpetuating human rights violations. He called on Ugandans to remain resilient and united in the face of challenges.
This announcement sets the stage for heightened political activity in the coming months as opposition parties strategize for the critical 2026 elections, with Bobi Wine positioned as a central figure in efforts to galvanize support for political change.
