An eight-year-old boy from northern Zimbabwe has been found alive after surviving an incredible five-day ordeal in the Matusadona Game Park, a wildlife reserve known for its dangerous inhabitants, including lions and elephants.
The young boy, identified as Tinotenda Pudu, ventured far from home, wandering 23 kilometers (14 miles) into the heart of the game park.

His unexpected journey began when he wandered away from his family and became lost in the vast, wildlife-filled park. Matusadona, located in Mashonaland West, is home to a large population of lions, with approximately 40 of the big cats roaming its expansive terrain. At one point, the park had one of the highest lion population densities in Africa.
According to Mashonaland West Member of Parliament Mutsa Murombedzi, who shared the news on social media platform X, the boy endured a perilous five days in the wild. Despite the dangers posed by the presence of roaming lions and passing elephants, Tinotenda managed to survive. He found a rocky perch where he slept and sought shelter, and he survived by eating wild fruits found in the park.
Murombedzi described the conditions the boy faced, stating that he had to endure the constant sounds of roaring lions and the movement of large elephants nearby. The survival story has drawn widespread attention, with many expressing amazement at Tinotenda’s resilience in the face of such a life-threatening situation.
After five days in the game park, Tinotenda was eventually found and safely returned to his family, leaving authorities and locals alike in awe of his survival instincts and the sheer luck that he managed to escape unharmed from one of Africa’s most dangerous wildlife reserves.
