Today marks the official takeover of the new leadership at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). Mr. Benon Kigenyi, who has been appointed as the Deputy Executive Director, and Ms. Sharifah Buzeki, the newly appointed Executive Director, assumed office as part of the city’s efforts to steer it towards greater transformation.

Ms. Buzeki, in her remarks, emphasized the importance of public safety and security as integral components of her vision for Kampala’s future. She noted that ensuring these aspects would play a crucial role in the city’s transition into a “smart city.” This commitment underscores her focus on building an environment that is both secure and technologically advanced to benefit all residents.

Additionally, Ms. Buzeki expressed her intention to foster greater community engagement. She announced plans to host town hall meetings and other public forums to better understand the concerns and needs of the people of Kampala. This initiative is aimed at ensuring that the city’s development strategies align with the aspirations of its residents.

KCCA’s spokesperson, Daniel Nuwabiine, confirmed the new appointments and highlighted the leadership’s readiness to tackle the challenges ahead. The new executives are expected to work closely with other city leaders and stakeholders to drive Kampala’s growth and development forward.
