The Premier League has not charged any club with breaches of Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for the 2023/24 season. However, Leicester City remains under scrutiny and is considered the most at risk of potential penalties.

Leicester City, recently promoted, was referred to an independent commission last March over alleged PSR infringements. While the club was initially charged, it successfully appealed the decision, avoiding a points deduction.

Despite this, the Premier League appealed Leicester’s acquittal, with British media reporting that the case must be resolved before any further charges can be pursued.

In a statement, the Premier League said:
“Issues as to the jurisdiction of the Premier League over Leicester City Football Club in relation to PSR compliance are currently the subject of confidential arbitration proceedings. Accordingly, neither the League nor the club will make any further comment at this stage about any aspect of the club’s compliance or otherwise with any of the PSR or related Rules, save to say that no complaint has been brought against Leicester by the League for any breach of the PSRs for the period ending season 2023/24.”

The case highlights ongoing concerns over financial compliance within the league, leaving Leicester City’s future uncertain as arbitration proceedings continue.
