The National Former RDCs, RCCs, and Deputies Association has expressed deep concerns over unmet promises regarding resettlement packages, highlighting that many of their members continue to suffer despite the government’s earlier assurances. In a recent conference, members of the association raised a variety of issues, with a particular focus on what they described as “sectarianism” in the selection process for those eligible to return to work.

One of the major points of contention during the conference was the perceived unfairness in the way individuals were chosen to resume their roles. According to the association, some former Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Resident City Commissioners (RCCs), and their deputies still possess valid identification documents, yet they were excluded from the list of those selected for reappointment.
Critics pointed out that instead of using a fair and random selection process, the government deliberately left out candidates from Northern Uganda, which many see as a discriminatory act. This decision has sparked outrage within the association, which argues that such an approach is both unfair and divisive.
In addition to issues surrounding the reappointment process, the association members expressed frustration with the government’s overall treatment of their well-being. Many of them claim that they have been abandoned by the government, which failed to honor promises made regarding compensation and resettlement packages. Some members who served in these roles for brief periods of time also voiced their concerns, emphasizing that the government had not shown adequate care for their needs despite their service.
As the grievances continue to mount, the former RDCs, RCCs, and Deputies are calling for urgent action from the government to address their issues and fulfill the promises made to them. The association warns that if these matters are not resolved, they may escalate their protests, demanding justice and fair treatment for all affected members.
