UNEB Directs Schools to Clear Arrears to Access 2024 PLE Results.

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has instructed all schools with outstanding balances to clear their arrears before they can access the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results. UNEB Spokesperson Jennifer Kalule confirmed that the board has identified numerous schools with unpaid invoices, some dating back to as far as 2017.

Kalule explained that schools with arrears will be blocked from accessing the UNEB results portal once the Education Minister officially releases the results later today. The results are set to be released this afternoon, and only schools that have cleared their debts will be able to retrieve the results immediately.

For schools that settle their balances, Kalule assured that they would gain access to the results as soon as they are released. “Only schools that have cleared their invoices will be able to access the results promptly through the UNEB portal,” she stated.

In addition to online access, printed copies of the results will only be available to District, Municipal, and City Inspectors of Schools starting on Monday, January 27, 2025. Kalule urged these officials to avoid visiting UNEB offices before the specified date.

To assist parents and learners, UNEB has introduced an SMS service that will allow them to access their results directly. By sending the PLE index number of the candidate to 6600, parents can receive their children’s results, a service available across all telephone networks. However, it’s important to note that results for learners from schools with outstanding invoices will not be accessible, even through the SMS service.

Parents are also advised to cross-check the results against the school portal or printouts for any potential errors. UNEB has provided a four-week window for parents to report discrepancies in candidates’ details, such as names, age, gender, or other personal information. Kalule emphasized that any errors not addressed within this period will be permanently printed on the results slips. “Errors left uncorrected can carry forward to future academic records, potentially affecting a child’s identity and academic journey,” she warned.

This caution comes as previous cases have shown that incorrect information on PLE results slips has led to complications in official documents for some individuals.
