(HICGI) – Neymar has officially parted ways with Al Hilal by mutual agreement, the Saudi Pro League champions announced. The decision follows a disappointing stint at the club for Brazil’s all-time leading scorer.

The 32-year-old suffered a knee injury during Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in October 2023, which significantly impacted his ability to regain peak form.

“Al Hilal and Neymar Jr. have mutually agreed to terminate the player’s contract,” the Saudi club announced on X early Tuesday morning.

Neymar featured in only seven matches for Al Hilal after joining from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in August 2023 for a reported fee of around €90 million ($98 million).

Brazilian media have speculated that the 79-goal national team icon is set to return to his boyhood club, Santos, where he last played before leaving in 2013 to join Barcelona.

Neymar still holds the record for the highest football transfer fee in history—€222 million ($232 million)—when he moved from Barcelona to PSG in August 2017.
