The Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court has been urged to issue an arrest warrant for the President of the Uganda Law Society (ULS), Isaac Ssemakadde, after he failed to appear in court to answer charges of indecent assault.
Earlier, Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi had issued criminal summons against Ssemakadde, requiring him to appear before the court to respond to allegations that he insulted the modesty of a woman.

The charges stem from an incident involving the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Justice Jane Francis Abodo. Ssemakadde is accused of indecently assaulting Justice Abodo, a matter that has drawn significant attention due to the high-profile nature of both the alleged victim and the accused.
The court had expected Ssemakadde to attend the hearing and respond to the serious charges, but his failure to appear prompted calls for a more stringent legal response. The prosecution now seeks the issuance of an arrest warrant to ensure Ssemakadde faces the charges against him.
This development adds another layer of tension to the legal proceedings involving Ssemakadde, who is a prominent figure in Uganda’s legal community. His absence in court raises questions about his compliance with the judicial process and the gravity of the allegations he faces.
As the case unfolds, the court will determine the next steps in ensuring that Ssemakadde is held accountable for the charges leveled against him.
