Ebola Outbreak Confirmed in Kampala, Uganda.

          The Ministry of Health in Uganda has confirmed an outbreak of Sudan Ebola Virus Disease (SUDV) in Kampala, following verification from three National Reference Laboratories. This marks the eighth Ebola outbreak in Uganda.

The index case, identified as a 32-year-old male nurse from Mulago National Referral Hospital (NRH), sought treatment at multiple healthcare facilities before his condition was identified. Tragically, one health worker has died after seeking care at various hospitals in both Kampala and Mbale.

In response to the outbreak, rapid response teams have been fully deployed, and contact tracing is currently underway to prevent further spread of the disease. The Ministry assures the public that all necessary measures are in place to contain the situation, emphasizing that the government is in full control.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Daina Atwine, expressed confidence in the response efforts, stating that they are closely monitoring the situation and are working to safeguard public health. The Ministry is urging all citizens to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines provided by health authorities.

Sudan Ebola Virus Disease is known for its high fatality rate, and the Ministry of Health is taking proactive steps to ensure that all affected areas are swiftly addressed. The situation is under constant review, and further updates will be provided as necessary.
