The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) released results for both the NLSC and the old curriculum, sparking mixed reactions among students, teachers, and parents. Many struggled to interpret the new grading system, leading to confusion over performance assessments.

According to UNEB, a total of 350,146 candidates who sat for the 2024 UCE examinations under the NLSC passed and qualified for certificates. However, concerns have been raised regarding the transition from the old curriculum, as stakeholders find it challenging to understand the grading criteria.

Despite the uncertainty, Janet Museveni reassured the public that the new system aims to enhance competency-based learning, ensuring students acquire practical skills alongside academic knowledge. She called on parents, teachers, and students to familiarize themselves with the new framework, emphasizing its long-term benefits.

As the country adapts to the changes, education authorities are expected to provide further guidance on interpreting results and understanding the implications of the new grading system.
