A chaotic scene unfolded in Serbia’s parliament on Tuesday, as opposition lawmakers clashed with the ruling majority, leaving at least three lawmakers injured, one seriously. The turmoil began about an hour into the parliamentary session, with opposition members blowing whistles and holding up a banner that read “Serbia has risen so the regime would fall!”

The opposition parties were protesting the ruling majority’s plans to approve dozens of decisions, which they deemed illegal. They argued that the parliament should first confirm the resignation of Prime Minister Milos Vučević and his government. The tensions escalated, with smoke bombs and flares being thrown, and hundreds of opposition supporters rallying outside the parliament building.

Lawmaker Jasmina Obradović was among those injured, suffering a stroke after being hit by a stun grenade. She was hospitalized, and her condition was reported to be life-threatening. Two other lawmakers, Jasmina Karanac and Sanja Ilić, who is eight months pregnant, were also injured.
The incident has further fueled the already simmering political tensions in Serbia, with the opposition demanding the government’s resignation and the ruling majority accusing them of attempting to stage a “colour revolution”.
