The National Unity Platform (NUP) has raised concerns over a sudden increase of 35,000 voters in Kawempe North ahead of the upcoming election. The party has cited this as a major irregularity and has decided to temporarily suspend its campaign activities in the constituency.

According to NUP Secretary General, Mr. Lewis David Rubongoya, the party observed several irregularities in the lead-up to the election, prompting the decision to halt campaign efforts in the area. He expressed doubts about the credibility of the voter registration process and called for transparency from the electoral authorities.

Meanwhile, NUP’s candidate for Kawempe North, Mr. Elias Nalukoola Luyimbazi, continues to campaign in other areas, including Mpererwe. He has urged supporters to remain vigilant and ensure that the electoral process is conducted fairly.

The suspension of campaign activities in Kawempe North highlights the party’s growing concerns over potential election malpractice. With election day set for Thursday, NUP has called on relevant authorities to address the issue and provide clarity on the sudden voter increase.
