“During all this period, and last week, you stayed with us… these are not just words, we feel it,” Zelensky said, emphasizing the importance of continued European assistance amid ongoing Russian aggression.

Zelensky’s arrival in Brussels came just hours after a Russian missile struck a hotel in his hometown, Kryvyi Rih. The attack reportedly targeted a location where Western charity workers were staying. A survivor of the strike  said that he believes aid workers were deliberately targeted in the attack.

Meanwhile, UK officials revealed that around 20 countries have shown interest in joining the “coalition of the willing,” a group committed to providing further military and logistical support to Ukraine. The initiative aims to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses and maintain pressure on Russia.

In response to discussions about increased European involvement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reiterated his opposition to the presence of European troops in Ukraine after any potential peace agreement. Lavrov warned that such a move would be seen as a “direct provocation” by Russia.

The Brussels summit underscores the ongoing geopolitical tensions surrounding the war in Ukraine, as European leaders seek ways to reinforce their commitment to Kyiv while navigating the risks posed by further escalation with Russia.
