The White House has strongly criticized The Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg after he published newly leaked messages from a Signal group chat involving top U.S. officials. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the issue during a daily press briefing, denouncing Goldberg as an “anti-Trump hater” and downplaying the significance of the leaked messages.

Leavitt maintained that no classified information was shared in the group chat, despite the messages appearing to include sensitive details about recent U.S. military operations. The leaked messages reportedly show Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth discussing an airstrike in Yemen earlier this month. In one message, Hegseth wrote: “Weather is FAVORABLE. Just CONFIRMED w/CENTCOM we are a GO for mission launch” and later added, “14:15: Strike Drones on Target.”

The publication of these messages has sparked controversy, as it raises concerns about potential breaches of security and unauthorized disclosures within the administration. Meanwhile, earlier in the day, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard testified before a House committee regarding national security matters, though it remains unclear if her statements were related to the leaked messages.

The White House continues to push back against The Atlantic’s reporting, insisting that the leaks are being used to undermine the administration rather than to reveal any significant wrongdoing.
