President Donald Trump announced a new trade agreement with the United Kingdom on Thursday, calling it “an incredible day for America.”

Speaking from the White House, Trump said, “Today’s agreement with the U.K. is the first in a series of trade deals my administration has been negotiating over the past four weeks.”

He emphasized the importance of fairness and reciprocity in global commerce, stating, “With this deal, the U.K. joins the United States in affirming that fairness and reciprocity are essential principles of international trade. This agreement opens up billions of dollars in increased market access for American exports, particularly in agriculture. It significantly boosts opportunities for American beef, ethanol, and nearly all products from our great farmers.”

Trump also noted that the U.K. will be expediting the customs process for American goods, saying, “They’ll be fast-tracking American exports for swift approval.” He added that the final details of the agreement are expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.

“Today is an incredible day for America as we deliver our first Fair, Open, and Reciprocal Trade Deal—something our past Presidents never prioritized.”

He continued:
“Together with our strong ally, the United Kingdom, we have reached the first historic Trade Deal since Liberation Day. As part of this agreement, the United States will generate $6 billion in external revenue through 10% tariffs, unlock $5 billion in new export opportunities for our great ranchers, farmers, and producers, and strengthen national security for both nations through the creation of an Aluminum and Steel Trading Zone and a secure pharmaceutical supply chain.”
