Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United’s captain, is reportedly considering a lucrative transfer offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. The Saudi Pro League side has proposed a record-breaking £65 million annual salary, potentially making Fernandes one of the world’s highest-paid players. His agent, Miguel Pinho, has held productive talks with Al-Hilal officials in Riyadh, and negotiations are ongoing. If Fernandes accepts the deal, his final appearance for Manchester United could occur today during a friendly match in Hong Kong.

Despite the significant offer, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed confidence that Fernandes will remain at the club. Amorim emphasized Fernandes’ importance to the team’s future and stated that the midfielder wants to win and sees the club taking steps to improve. Fernandes, under contract until June 2027, was named United’s player of the season for a record-equalling fourth time. Amorim dismissed the need to sell Fernandes to fund transfers, despite the club’s financial strain caused by failing to qualify for the Champions League.
In a recent post-season tour, United defeated Hong Kong 3-1, with young talents Chido Obi and Ayden Heaven scoring their first senior goals. Fernandes is expected to represent Portugal in the UEFA Nations League semi-final against Germany on June 4. United’s next scheduled match is a friendly against Leeds in Stockholm on July 19, followed by a U.S. pre-season tour.
As of now, no official bid has been made, and Manchester United wishes to retain Fernandes. However, the coming days are crucial for determining his future.
