Witnesses reported being fired on by both Palestinian gunmen and Israeli troops near a Gaza aid site in Rafah’s Tal al-Sultan area.

Palestinians in Gaza came under fire while heading to an aid distribution center run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which is backed by Israel and the US.

Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry said six people were killed and 99 injured from areas designated for aid collection.

The Israeli military is investigating reports of gunfire near a Gaza aid site, while the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation stated that the Tal al-Sultan site was closed and no incidents occurred at other operational aid distribution sites.

Deadly incidents have occurred near Gaza Humanitarian Foundation aid centers almost daily since distributions began on May 26, sparking concerns over safety and security.

Multiple Palestinians have been killed in the Tal al-Sultan area of Rafah while approaching an aid site located in an Israeli military zone.

Witnesses described Palestinian gunmen, seemingly allied with Israeli forces, firing on crowds near an aid site, alongside Israeli troops, before retreating into a military zone.

Hisham Saeed Salem described masked gunmen initially thought to be helping with aid distribution, who suddenly opened fire, targeting even those who had received aid. Mohammed Sakout recounted narrowly escaping death as several young men were shot and killed nearby.

The situation escalated with reports of masked, armed men firing on civilians, adding to previous concerns over Israeli army shootings.

Injured individuals, like Mohammed Kabaga, described being shot by these masked men who were supposedly organizing the crowd.

Mohammed Kabaga described being shot while standing in line for aid, saying he was hit unexpectedly. The IDF is investigating, while the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation reported no incidents at two other aid sites but confirmed the Tal al-Sultan center was closed due to crowd chaos.

The Gaza health ministry reported 127 deaths and 1,287 injuries related to aid distribution areas.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s aid effort, using US private security contractors, has drawn criticism from the UN and other aid groups for potentially compromising humanitarian principles. They warn of catastrophic hunger levels for Gaza’s 2.1 million population.
