Ugandan students studying in Algeria have publicly commended Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for their visionary leadership and commitment to fostering strong educational and diplomatic relations between the two nations.

During a recent student graduation Party held in Tlemcen, leaders from the Ugandan student community expressed deep appreciation for the ongoing academic exchange programs and scholarships offered by the Algerian government. They described these initiatives as a “lifeline” for many young Ugandans pursuing higher education in North Africa.

“We are here today because of the trust and partnership between our two countries. President Tebboune’s generosity and President Museveni’s diplomacy have opened doors for us that we never imagined,” said Kaiti Sulaiman , President of Ugandan Students Association in Algeria.

The gathering, attended by officials from the Ugandan Embassy in Algiers, underscored the students’ desire to act as goodwill ambassadors, not only representing Uganda but also promoting Pan-African cooperation and unity.

“We pledge to uphold academic excellence and return home as skilled professionals ready to contribute to Uganda’s development,” added Kaiti.

The students also praised both governments for recent efforts to deepen cooperation in areas of trade, education, energy, and security, noting that these partnerships offer lasting benefits for youth empowerment and continental integration.

Diplomatic ties between Uganda and Algeria have gained momentum in recent years, marked by high-level visits, investment cooperation, and cultural exchange programs. Algeria remains one of the leading African nations offering technical education scholarships to Ugandan students in fields such as engineering, medicine, agriculture, and oil and gas.

In the City of Tlemcen, 500km West of Algeria’s the capital of Algeria was this colorful and joyous graduation party of Ugandan Students in Algeria powered by Ugandan Embassy in Algeria on Saturday. The deputy Head of Mission H. E Dr. Julius Kivuna presided over the ceremony alongside Embassy Staff.

Officials from the Ugandan Mission in Algiers reaffirmed the embassy’s continued support to the students and welcomed the positive spirit displayed by the youth.

“This generation is the future of African diplomacy and development,” said an embassy representative. “Their gratitude and dedication reflect the strength of our partnership.”
