Baton Rouge, Louisiana — Rev. Jimmy Swaggart, America’s longest-serving television evangelist and founder of the world-renowned Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, has died at the age of 90, his family has confirmed.
Swaggart, a towering figure in global Pentecostalism, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his home in Baton Rouge. His life and ministry spanned more than seven decades, with his fiery sermons, gospel music, and globally broadcast services touching millions across continents.

Rising to prominence in the 1970s and 80s, Swaggart became a household name through his television program “Jimmy Swaggart Telecast,” which at its peak was broadcast in over 100 countries. He was also an accomplished gospel singer and pianist, selling millions of albums and earning multiple Dove Awards.
Despite controversies that rocked his ministry in the late 1980s and 1990s, Swaggart remained a resilient and influential figure in American evangelicalism. His Family Worship Center and SonLife Broadcasting Network continued to reach audiences worldwide.

Tributes are pouring in from religious leaders, fans, and followers who credit Swaggart with transforming lives and spreading the Christian gospel across generations.
More details on funeral arrangements and memorial services will be released by the family in the coming days.
