Jadeja and Reddy Dig in as England Push for Final Three Wickets

“I believe I read it right  Ben Stokes said something along the lines of, “I ain’t moving.”
Which, obviously, means Stokes is gearing up for another spell. But you have to wonder if the balcony might be looking down thinking, “Ben, enough is enough.”

As for Jadeja and Reddy, I’m still waiting for that counterpunch. When is it coming? England are bowling with great discipline, keeping the pressure on. But eventually, India will have to take a risk play a shot or two. The tension’s building.

Nitish Kumar Reddy is nearly knocked off his feet by a sharp bouncer from Stokes — caught completely off guard.
The over ends as a maiden, punctuated by a bit more back-and-forth between batter and bowler.

Advert.

Reddy nods in quiet appreciation  he knows that was four all the way without Archer’s intervention. England remain relentless in the field, with every run being earned the hard way. Jadeja, at the other end, continues to soak up pressure, waiting for anything loose.

The partnership is growing, the tension is building and lunch is just around the corner.

Jofra Archer’s spell is the quickest by an England bowler on day five anywhere in the world in the last 10 years.

Ben Stokes must be quietly pleased he’s still able to bowl and bowl well. As captain, every player in the side is watching you, reading your body language, looking to see how you’re handling the moment. And right now, he’s setting the tone.

You can hear the Indian fans — still full of belief, still making noise. This is when the MCC members need to find their voice and fight back. Time to get the chants going at Lord’s!

The roar around Lord’s as India brings up their 100 is not far off what you’d expect for the winning runs — a real release of tension.

Advert.

Just a single to Reddy off another probing over from Stokes. How many more of these can he send down?

Ben Stokes is set to continue his spell — and good luck to anyone trying to stop him at this rate.

Brydon Carse has a big responsibility here — he needs to hit the ground running.

Stokes and Archer were outstanding in the first hour, setting the tone with relentless intensity. But India have absorbed the pressure, slowed the momentum, and now it’s even-stevens.

Ravindra Jadeja remains the key. As long as he’s at the crease, belief will still be strong in the India dressing room.

What a luxury for Ben Stokes — he whips Jofra Archer out of the attack and throws the ball to Brydon Carse, the man who cracked the game open last night.

Carse starts with intent. A fiery short ball climbs sharply and pins Jadeja on the glove, but it drops just short of Joe Root at slip.

Stokes offers a wry smile. He knows that was close.

England’s fielders keep up the chatter, chirping relentlessly at Nitish Kumar Reddy, who’s held firm with solid defence so far.

Just two runs come off Stokes’ over as the partnership digs in, showing little sign of mounting a counter-attack just yet.

Three England fielders run off at the end of the over for a toilet break. Anyone else need a visit for the nerves?

Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Washington Sundar have all come and gone this morning casualties of an absolute spectacle of fast bowling from Stokes and Archer.
