Kinshasa – On Monday, Congolese President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo hosted a delegation of religious leaders, including Ugandan evangelist Dr. Robert Kayanja and Archbishop Evariste Ejiba Yamapia, head of the Church of Awakening in Congo (ERC), for a high-level dialogue focused on peacebuilding, spiritual revival, and regional agricultural cooperation.
The high-level talks at Mount Ngaliema presidential palace addressed peacebuilding in eastern DRC and examined faith-driven strategies for regional agricultural development and food resilience.
Dr. Kayanja, a prominent spiritual leader and advisor to President Museveni, thanked President Tshisekedi for embracing the role of faith in national healing and cross-border cooperation.

“Congo is very dear to us. It has stood up for Africa in countless ways,” said Dr. Kayanja, who also reflected on his family’s deep missionary roots in the DRC.
Dr. Kayanja also announced that renowned American evangelist Pastor Benny Hinn is planning to hold a major crusade in Kinshasa—an initiative that has received full endorsement from President Tshisekedi. The date for the event is expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Speaking with deep emotion, Dr. Kayanja highlighted the spiritual bond between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the broader East African region, describing Congo as the cradle of regional revival.
“The awakening of East Africa began in Congo. There is a very strong connection between Congo and the region,” he noted, emphasizing that President Tshisekedi’s openness to spiritual renewal has reignited hope across the region.

Beyond matters of faith, Dr. Kayanja highlighted the progress of his agricultural initiatives in northern Uganda and the Karamoja region, where large-scale irrigation systems, livestock support programs, and food security efforts have been rolled out to combat malnutrition and alleviate poverty.
Dr. Kayanja emphasized the potential for replicating successful agricultural models from northern Uganda and Karamoja in eastern Congo, framing agriculture not only as an economic driver but also as a vital instrument for peacebuilding and community restoration.
“I have been blessed with several international recognitions for our work in agriculture. Agriculture is not just an economic tool—it is a peacebuilding tool, a way of restoring dignity and hope,” he stated.
The meeting underscored a growing convergence of religion, diplomacy, and sustainable development, as leaders from Uganda and the DRC look to faith-based cooperation as a pathway to regional reconciliation, resilience, and shared prosperity.
