Kampala, Uganda – The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs), Hon. Henry Okello Oryem, on Wednesday held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mourad Amokrane, the Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Uganda, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala.




The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding relations between Uganda and Algeria, with both officials exchanging views on matters of mutual interest.

A key item on the agenda was the upcoming Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), scheduled to take place from August 20 to 22, 2025, in Yokohama, Japan. The two dignitaries discussed preparations for the summit and explored opportunities for coordinated engagement at the conference, which brings together African leaders and international partners to promote sustainable development across the continent.

Hon. Oryem and Ambassador Amokrane reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to enhanced diplomatic and economic cooperation, emphasizing the importance of continuous dialogue and partnership in regional and global forums.
The meeting underscored Uganda’s and Algeria’s shared interest in advancing African development priorities and working collaboratively within multilateral frameworks such as TICAD.
