Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, said officers from the Katwe-Kabatoro Police Division responded promptly and evacuated the injured to Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Kasese Town for emergency treatment.

“Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle was travelling at excessive speed, which likely caused the driver to lose control,” Tumushime said, adding that patrols along major roads in Kasese District have been intensified to curb reckless driving.

Kasese, a gateway to several national parks and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) border, has seen a surge in traffic accidents in recent months, often attributed to overspeeding and driver fatigue.
