NEW YORK / ALGIERS, Updated at 1337 EAT on 09th October 2025 — The A3+ Group at the United Nations Security Council (comprising Algeria, Somalia, Sierra Leone, and Guyana) has reiterated its firm support for the Government and people of Colombia in their efforts to restore sustainable peace.

Speaking on behalf of the group during a UN Security Council session on the situation in Colombia, Guyana’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Carolyn Rodrigues, underscored the group’s “unwavering support to the government and people of Colombia in their efforts to achieve a lasting peace.”
The A3+ Group urged both the Colombian Government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) to resume peace negotiations, emphasizing that “dialogue remains the only viable path toward achieving security and lasting peace.”

Acknowledging the progress made since the signing of the 2016 Peace Agreement, Rodrigues noted that “given the longevity of the conflict in Colombia and the ongoing peacekeeping efforts, nine years is a relatively short period for full implementation.”
The group also expressed deep concern over persistent violence and the continued recruitment and exploitation of children by illegal armed groups, calling for their immediate release and reintegration into society.
