KAMPALA- The Youth Coalition for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a network bringing together dozens of youth-led organisations across Uganda, is set to usher in new leadership this Friday as Donald Waruhanga takes oath as the new President who contested unopposed. The Coalition operates under the auspices of the Office of the Prime Minister and the United Nations in Uganda.

Waruhanga succeeds Nassali Aminah, whose two-year tenure has come to an end.

A seasoned digital innovator, Waruhanga has been active in Uganda’s innovation ecosystem since 2015, beginning his journey as a Consultant with UNFPA Uganda before founding Doppler Technologies in 2019. His work, driven by a passion for leveraging technology to improve livelihoods, has earned him multiple accolades including 1st Runner-up at the Uganda National Youth Awards, overall winner of the UNFPA #Hack4Youth Global Hackathon in 2015 with the GetIN team, and a Top 20 finalist in the Africa Development Bank’s #AfricaVsVirus Challenge in 2020.

Waruhanga previously served as Technical Lead for the GetIN App under UNFPA, developing and rolling out a digital tool that enables health workers to track teenage pregnancies and ensure timely follow-up. The platform, which emerged as a leading solution from the Hack4Youth Hackathon, has since been deployed in over nine districts across three regions of Uganda.

He also represented UNFPA at the Ministry of Health’s e-Health Technical Working Group, helping streamline mHealth interventions nationwide. Among his contributions is the mHealth Refinery, a learning and collaboration platform for health innovators established under UNFPA’s I-Cafe initiative.

Through Doppler Technologies, Waruhanga has championed digital inclusion by supporting over 100 startups and enterprises in Uganda and beyond, enhancing their visibility and participation in the digital economy. Doppler’s Learner2Earner program has further enabled young people to acquire practical digital skills.
