In a notable gesture of cultural and spiritual engagement, the Ambassador of the European Union to Uganda, H.E. Jan Sadek, visited the Phaneroo service at Phaneroo Grounds on Thursday, 27 November 2025. The visit underscored his commitment to understanding Uganda’s social, political, and spiritual landscape beyond formal diplomacy.

Addressing thousands of worshippers, Ambassador Sadek shared a personal reflection on his first encounter with the Phaneroo atmosphere.
“Whenever I sit on my terrace every evening in Kololo where I stay, I hear something I call noise, and others may call it music, from the club. But every Thursday and Sunday, I hear beautiful music coming up. Now I understand what this beautiful music is and what is happening down there,” he said.

He praised the ministry’s leadership, describing Pastor Grace Lubega as a “phenomenon” and encouraging more people to visit the fellowship.
“As a diplomat and ambassador, my work is to represent the European Union, but also to understand Uganda—the politics, economics, and what is happening socially and spiritually. I thought it was important to come and listen to you,” he added.
Ambassador Sadek also expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received, noting the inclusive nature of the congregation.
“I am humbled as the Ambassador of the European Union to be part of this. I understand your arms are open to anyone, and I am grateful for your hospitality,” he said.

The visit reflects the EU’s continued interest in people-to-people engagement and strengthening cultural understanding within Ugandan communities.
