Media scholar and celebrated broadcaster Dr. Sam Kazibwe and his bride Sonia Babirye on Tuesday hosted a vibrant and elegant wedding reception at the picturesque Ddungu Resort in Munyonyo, drawing distinguished guests from Uganda’s media, academic and social circles.

The couple had earlier exchanged vows in a joyful morning ceremony at Namirembe Cathedral, where family, friends and clergy witnessed their union.

About the Groom – Dr. Sam Kazibwe

Dr. Kazibwe is a respected Ugandan journalist, academic and media scholar known for his sharp intellect and mastery of both local and global affairs. He holds a PhD in Cultural and Media Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, a Master’s degree in Human Rights from Makerere University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Uganda Christian University.

His journalism career spans more than 15 years, during which he served as reporter, news anchor, talk-show host and editor. Today, he is a Senior Lecturer at Uganda Christian University’s School of Journalism, Media and Communication, where he teaches and researches media law, communication theory, governance and international relations.

Dr. Kazibwe has earned multiple accolades, including the 2019 Best Radio Documentary Award from the Media Challenge Initiative and the 2022 UJA Award for Best Researched Broadcaster. Known among peers as a “walking encyclopedia,” he is admired for his deep knowledge and calm analytical voice.

About the Bride – Sonia Babirye

Sonia Babirye is celebrated for her humility, warmth and strong Christian values. She is known among her community for her supportive nature, respectfulness and dedication to maintaining close family ties.
