Uganda Braces for Massive New Year’s Eve Prayer Turnout
Uganda is expected to witness an overwhelming nationwide turnout of an estimated 15 million worshippers attending New Year’s Eve prayer services across the country. Churches, cathedrals, mosques, and open-air prayer grounds are preparing to usher in the New Year with thanksgiving, reflection, and intercession.
Reporting from Naguru, Dr. Kivumbi Earnest Benjamin, L.H.D. (Hon.) notes that Phaneroo Ministries, led by Pastor Grace Lubega, is expecting more than 150,000 worshippers at its New Year’s Eve gathering.
At Lubaga Miracle Centre, Pastors Robert and Jessica Kayanja have installed a mobile stadium with a capacity of over 100,000 people. Meanwhile, Old Kampala Stadium, under Bishop David and Pastor Cindy Kiganda, is preparing to host more than 50,000 worshippers.

At Kololo Independence Grounds, Pastor Tom Mugerwa of Mutundwe Christian Fellowship expects over 30,000 worshippers, while Presiding Apostle Dr. Joseph Serwadda anticipates more than 70,000 people at the newly established Doxa Grounds in Lubowa.

Other major prayer gatherings include Christian Life Church, Bwaise, where Pastors Jackson and Eve Ssenyonga are set to host over 30,000 worshippers. Prophet Samuel Kakande in Mulago is also expecting more than 30,000 people, while Prophet Elvis Mboye in Kiggo is preparing for over 70,000 worshippers.
At Bethel Healing Centre, Kitovu, Pastor Irene Manjeri looks forward to about 25,000 worshippers, while Pastor Imelda Namutebi in Lugala is set to host more than 10,000 people.
In Nansana, Pastor Wilson Bugembe of Nansana Prayer House anticipates over 30,000 worshippers, as Pastor David Bweyinda of Kasawe, Masajja, prepares for around 5,000 attendees.

Further south, Brother Ronnie Makabwayi in Namulanda is expected to host more than 40,000 people, while Bishop Grivas Musisi anticipates about 5,000 worshippers at Prayer Palace, Kibuye. Kansanga Miracle Centre, led by Pastor Isaac Kyobbe Kiwewesi, is also preparing for over 40,000 worshippers.
Bishop Michael Kyazze in Namasuba will host more than 10,000 people while Bishop Nathan Ibrahim in Mbarara will host more than 8000 people.
Beyond the Pentecostal and Born-Again congregations, Anglican and Catholic churches, as well as several mosques across the country, will also hold special prayer services to mark the transition into the New Year.
