Preliminary reports suggest she may have been attacked by unknown assailants who reportedly gained access to the apartment during the night.

“She was killed by unknown individuals who gained access to her apartment on Tuesday night,” said Shanita, a close friend, in a statement to colleagues.

As of Wednesday afternoon, authorities had not issued an official statement on the circumstances surrounding her death, and it remained unclear whether any suspects had been identified.

Police typically treat cases like this as suspected homicide, pending post-mortem and forensic investigations.

Diana Skyz was a prominent figure in Kampala’s social-media scene, known as a model, entertainer, and showbiz personality. She had built a growing TikTok following, sharing content focused on lifestyle and fashion.

News of her death spread quickly online, prompting an outpouring of grief from fellow content creators and fans alike.

Police data cited in recent crime reports show that more than 4,400 people were killed in homicides nationwide in 2024, averaging roughly 12 deaths per day.

Separate international data indicate that Uganda’s intentional homicide rate has generally ranged between roughly 8 and 11 deaths per 100,000 people in recent years, depending on the year and methodology used.

Security analysts say many killings in the country are linked to domestic disputes, robberies, land conflicts, and mob justice. However, cases in urban areas involving young women often attract heightened public attention, raising broader concerns about personal safety and gender-based violence.

Police are expected to release further details once preliminary investigations and a post-mortem examination are completed.
