Iran Launches Additional Missiles at Israel; Public Told It Can Leave Shelters, Military Says

Iran has launched more missiles toward Israel, the Israeli military says, as air defence systems were activated to intercept the incoming projectiles.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its defensive systems were working to counter the missile threat. The military earlier warned residents to seek shelter when warning alerts were issued.

In a separate update, the IDF’s Home Front Command said the public can now leave protected spaces after previously instructing people to remain in shelters following the alerts. Authorities emphasised that civilians should continue to follow official safety guidance.

The renewed Iranian barrages come amid an ongoing conflict that has seen repeated exchanges of strikes between Iran and Israeli forces over recent weeks.

Sri Lanka Unveils Largest-Ever Relief Package Amid Soaring Energy Costs
Sri Lanka is rolling out its largest-ever relief package for farmers, fishermen, and low-income households as energy prices continue to soar.

The island nation, heavily dependent on Middle Eastern oil, has seen fuel costs rise by a third since the conflict began on February 28.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said the relief package aims to support the most vulnerable, particularly those living below the poverty line.

Sri Lanka is also in talks with Russia to secure backup supplies of gas, coal, fuel, and fertiliser to ease the country’s energy and agricultural challenges.

The gunfire broke out in the Beşiktaş district, where the consulate is located, prompting a swift response from Turkish police, local outlets reported. Officers exchanged fire with the attackers, who were “neutralised” during the confrontation, according to media accounts.

Details remain limited, and there has been no official confirmation of casualty figures or the motive behind the incident. It was also unclear whether the consulate itself was directly targeted.

The Israeli consulate in Istanbul has been closed for at least two years and was reportedly unstaffed at the time of the shooting, local sources said.

Turkish authorities have launched an investigation into the incident as security forces maintain a heightened presence in the area.
