WAKISO- Several Ugandans including academicians, politicians and officials from State House on Saturday joined diplomats from the embassy of the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) to mark the 111th anniversary of the birth of H.E. Kim Il Sung, founding leader of DPRK.

The Uganda National Seminar on the occasion of the 111th anniversary of the birth of H.E. Kim Il Sung was held in Wakiso under a theme ” The great whole life and immortal exploits of H.E. Kim Il Sung, the founder of the Juche idea”

H.E Ri Hung Guk, Deputy Ambassador Embassy of the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) in Kololo commended Uganda for bilateral relations.

Paddy Kabanda, a Resident District Comissioner commended Lawrence Mayambala for the dialogue organised about Juche Idea of self reliance and unity.

He said Uganda must reject LGBTQ+ being imposed on them. “Yes I agree there’s corruption , there’s murder but I have never seen people sponsoring , investing, promoting and mobilizing others to be corrupt except this LGBTQ” Kabanda added “The West is ordering us to sleep with fellow men.” Saying this is unacceptable and asking Ugandans to reject it. “Let them withdraw the aid, let them take away the ARVs. The reason we have not manufactured the HIV drug is because we’re taking taking their ARVs, and the day we stop relying on them is when we shall make our own drugs. He added “ No Ugandan is going to die because they have withdrawn the aid for signing the Anti Gay Bill. If North Korea didn’t perish during Covid 19 for not depending on their drugs, how shall we perish?”

Maxison Muhezi a political commentator said they have advanced the idea in all universities around the country.

Mary Kawuma a Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs told the youth to stop pinning the government every time. “You have brains to make money, stop pinning us.”

Malcolm Isaac Bulamu a civil society activist noted that North Korea with its 25 million people yet self-reliant has a lot to teach Uganda and Africa.

Uganda however remains in Diplomatic Relations with DPRK with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni a friend of Pyongyang.
