On April 16 2023, Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, saw the inauguration ceremony of 10 000 flats built in its Hwasong area as the first stage of housing construction in this area. The project started on February 12 last year according to the Workers’ Party of Korea’s plan for building 50 000 flats in Pyongyang.

Covering an area of about 150 hectares, the modern residential quarters consist of super-high-rise and high-rise apartment houses of various styles, public buildings, neighborhood-serving amenities and other facilities. The 10 000 flats represent another entity of great change born of the policy of the WPK which devotes its all to the people.
