The Pope was seen off at Houari Boumediene International Airport in a solemn farewell ceremony presided over by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Prior to departure, the two leaders held a private meeting in the presidential lounge, followed by national anthems and a review of official delegations. A ceremonial parade by the People’s National Army underscored the historic and diplomatic significance of the occasion.

The Algeria stop marks the opening leg of the Pope’s broader African tour focused on peace, dialogue, and interfaith cooperation. He departed for Yaoundé, with subsequent visits planned to Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea.
