Tottenham Defender Micky van de Ven Plans Summer Exit Regardless of Club Survival

Micky van de Ven is expected to leave relegation-threatened Tottenham Hotspur this summer, regardless of whether the club succeeds in its bid to avoid the drop, according to FourFourTwo.

Spurs currently sit 18th in the Premier League and are now winless in 15 matches following a 2-2 draw with Brighton on Saturday.

The north London side were moments away from securing their first victory of the calendar year in their survival push, before conceding a late equaliser to Georginio Rutter.

Even if Tottenham Hotspur manage to secure their Premier League status, Van de Ven is still expected to leave Roberto De Zerbi’s side at the end of the season.

The Netherlands international has attracted interest from several top European clubs, with La Liga giants Barcelona and reigning Premier League champions Liverpool both previously linked with the former Wolfsburg defender.

The 25-year-old has reportedly been putting his off-field affairs in order ahead of a potential summer departure.

Van de Ven, however, remains under contract with Tottenham Hotspur until 2029, with the club potentially considering a loan move rather than sanctioning an outright high-profile sale.

The Dutch defender was recently forced to respond to reports suggesting that some players “do not care” about Tottenham Hotspur’s efforts to avoid relegation.

“The other day when we read that one guy told the rest of the team that he doesn’t care because he’s leaving anyway — it’s just made up. And the fans will believe it. It’s just frustrating for us guys,” Micky van de Ven said.

Van de Ven is not the only centre-back linked with a summer departure, with teammate and club captain Cristian Romero also reportedly expected to push for a move.

The Argentina international signed a new contract last year, ending speculation linking him with a transfer to Atlético Madrid. However, he is now believed to have played his final game for the club after suffering a knee injury in the 1-0 defeat to Sunderland earlier this month.
