Police in Busoga East have arrested three men accused of running fake social media accounts impersonating First Daughter Natasha Karugire and Kampala businessman Hamis Kiggundu in an alleged online fraud and extortion scheme.

The suspects have been identified as Hassan Mugoya, 27, Ashiraf Kyakatuka, 22, and Asuman Isanga, 20. They were arrested on Wednesday night at about 11:00 p.m. during an operation carried out in Nampirika ‘A’ Village, Nakalama Sub-county, Iganga District.

According to police, the arrests followed a complaint filed by Kiggundu at Kiwatule Police Station on May 5, 2026, in which he reported that unknown individuals had created parody accounts using his identity to defraud members of the public.

Investigators from Kiwatule reportedly worked with their counterparts in Iganga and used GPS tracking technology to locate and arrest the suspects.

Busoga East Police spokesperson Michael Kasadha confirmed the arrests, saying the trio is currently being held at Iganga Central Police Station.

“The suspects were using fake social media accounts to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public,” Kasadha said.

He further said the fake accounts were also used to spread defamatory content and blackmail material targeting the individuals being impersonated.

Police said a search at the suspects’ residence led to the recovery of three smartphones and other items believed to be key evidence in the ongoing investigations.

Preliminary findings suggest that Mugoya allegedly managed two TikTok accounts operating under the names “Natasha Karugire” and “The First Daughter Natasha mus.”

Kyakatuka is also alleged to have used a Samsung mobile phone to operate four TikTok accounts, including “janet.kataha.muse5,” “natashakar7,” “first.daughter767,” and “ssenga.naisanga.04.”
