Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has arrived in Uganda for an official state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation on key regional matters, particularly the management and equitable sharing of the River Nile’s waters.
Abdel Fattah el-Sisi was received on Wednesday at Entebbe International Airport by Ruhakana Rugunda, the Special Envoy for Special Duties in the Office of the President.
The visit comes nine months after Yoweri Museveni travelled to Egypt for bilateral talks with Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, during which the two leaders discussed cooperation in areas including the Nile, trade, energy and regional stability.

Uganda and Egypt share long-standing historical and strategic ties centred on the River Nile, a vital resource for agriculture, hydroelectric power generation and water supply across several countries in the region.
The visit is expected to strengthen ongoing cooperation between Uganda and Egypt, particularly in areas such as water resource management, agriculture, energy development, and regional peace and security.
During a bilateral visit to Cairo in August last year, Yoweri Museveni urged Nile Basin countries to adopt a more inclusive and development-driven approach to the use of the River Nile.
“Our goal should be prosperity for all, access to electricity for all, irrigation for all, and clean drinking water for all,” Museveni said following talks with Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
He further stressed the need for scientific and equitable approaches to the management of Nile waters, aimed at ensuring shared and sustainable benefits among all basin countries.

The visit is expected to further deepen diplomatic engagement between Kampala and Cairo, at a time when regional cooperation on shared natural resources and security continues to remain a key priority.
